Valeo Weighted Vest Review
In this post I want to talk about the Valeo Weighted vest which comes in 2 main models that you can try out. The 20 lbs model and the 40 lbs model.
Are these vests a good choice for you to make? Let’s find out…
A Few Words About Valeo
Valeo is a pretty well known company in the fitness industry. They sell a bunch of different products like stability balls, ankle weights, jump ropes, etc. The vests are not one of their specialties (at least as far as my research shows), but they are considered to be a high quality brand and their products are widely used.
Who is the Valeo Weighted Vest Right For?
Since the bigger model of Valeo vests reaches 40 lbs at the most, this model is not right for heavy lifters or serious trainees. For instance, the Mir Weighted Vest goes up into much higher loads, more than 2 times as much, in fact.
Therefore, these vests are better fitted for people who are trying to add just a little bit of resistance to their workouts and are not interested in heavy lifting or massive muscle development.
These vests may also be suitable for women, although they’re not specifically designed as such.
Valeo Weighted Vests Features and Reviews
These are full torso vests which have a number of pockets on the front and back for even distribution of weight. Both models come with a 1 lbs packets that you can quickly add to the vest to add resistance. This is good because you can play around with small increments and find the exact load which is right for you.
I also like the special pocket for an ipod or another music player on the front. Perfect for those of us who want to listen to music while working out.
Some people use these vests for running. However, they may be less comfortable for this than the shorter vests that other brands offer.
Surprisingly, the 40 lbs model has better reviews than the 20 lbs model.
Some people complain about the poor quality of manufacturing in the 20 lbs model and say that the vest may wear or tear pretty quickly. You should be aware of these reviews which you can read about here. This is why I recommend getting the 40 lbs model, instead. Yet, it is more expensive, but it gives you more load and has better reviews.
The 40 lbs model has the same attributes as the lower weight model, but it seems to be better made. Some people say that the shoulder padding is uncomfortable, but this is likely a personal preference. You may find this vest to be very good for you.
The design is pretty good with a number of tightening belts for snugness. You can use this vest for cardio and strength training.
Bottom Line
Valeo Weighted vests may not be the best in the field but they offer a pretty good mid-range products. The 20 lbs model is less recommended than the bigger, 40 lbs one. Not for the more advanced trainees among us, but suitable for intermediate ones.
